We will be dealing with time value of money (present and future value, interest rate and solving for different parameters) and discounted cash flow applications (money market yield, portfolio return measurement, internal rate of return, and net present value). After this, we will take a closer look at statistical concepts (frequency distributions, graphic presentation of data, measures of central tendency, quantiles as well as measures of dispersion, skewness and kurtosis). You need to understand probability concepts as well as the principles of counting (multinomial, combination, and permutation formula). Then, we will talk about important discrete (e.g., binomial distribution) and continuous random variables (e.g., normal and lognormal distribution). Sampling and estimation (point and interval estimators) as well hypothesis testing (steps, possible errors, p-value, and the power of a test) will be further discussed.
